Ethan Hunt is back and you see him making his big entrance climbing up over a hill and basically making Benji, who is played by Simon Pegg, using all of his hacking abilities to open the door on a cargo plane. What no one knows is that the plane is fixing to take off with nuclear bombs strapped inside of it that is being transported by the Chechen separatists. You will see Ethan running and climbing on top of the plane as it takes off, and holding on for dear life while Benji does his best to open that cargo door.
Ethan happens to work for the IMF or Impossible Mission Force. The CIA director who is played by Alec Baldwin is disbanding the IMF. He believes that they are just a bunch of mavericks, people who are way too impulsive to send to the Top Gun crew. They are told that their success is just chance and even though they get results, they look like a bunch of mercenaries just out for fortune. The IMF gets disbanded even though everyone disagrees, including Ethan’s friend William Brandt who is played by Jeremy Renner.
A group of rouge agents known as the Syndicate, are going across the world and just killing powerful people and blowing things up, as well as ruining a bunch of really important companies. They happen to be the bad guys and this is the worst time for the IMF to be disbanded.
Ethan will be beaten pretty bad in this film. He gets caught by the Syndicate and hung up and beaten by someone called the Bone Doctor. You know that has to be quite painful for anyone, especially when you are being hung by your wrists and you are in the nastiest makeshift cell ever.
Fast and Furious
The one thing that everyone loves is high-speed chases. There are plenty of those and cars going down stone steps, vehicles making hairpin turns that make you cringe. The chases are amazing, there is no way that you would ever see this in real life, unless you happened to be a spy of sorts.
Funny and Romantic
There is plenty of dry humor that is in the film. There is times when Ethan’s IMF team has to kidnap a head of state, and they only have a few hours to do it in and get everything figured out. Brandt doesn’t want to but since it is Ethan asking, he agrees.
What many people don’t actually see until the end is the love story that is unfolding. Ethan has met his match in a woman, she can drive, fight, and shoot just as well as he can. She takes the action just like he does and that gives this movie just a bit of depth to the action that is all over the place. There is no way of actually knowing if Ilsa who is played by Rebecca Ferguson is on the side of the Syndicate, the Brits, or Ethan.
Ethan is baffled and he stops all the spy stuff for her. In time it gets to be a bit boring watching all of this unfold, but you see that there is more love than expected when you find out that Ethan is having a bromance. There are plenty of comedy points to this film and it works.
The one thing that people are falling in love with is the opera that is being done in the background for the soundtrack. It’s “Turandot” by Puccini. The whole story is basically about a princess and prince that spend the whole time testing each other.
As you begin to reach the end of the movie, you will see Ethan and his lady exchange the look while they are together at a cafe, sipping their coffee drinks. They are surrounded by killers and then there is no sound, only a look and then the killing begins.
