The very first teaser for HBO’s Westworld is only 30 seconds long, but it packs in a lot of punches of weird things going on. This unique science fiction western is based on the 1973 movie by Michael Crichton. It was first aired during the season two finale of True Detective.
The teaser is perfect for Westworld as it gives you plenty to go on but just enough to keep you wanting a lot more. The voice over is just enough to wonder what will be happening in show.
You hear someone ask Dolores, who is played by Evan Rachel Wood, “Have you ever questioned the nature of your reality?” Dolores happens to be in a dream. That really makes you question what is going on. The whole series has been described as being some dark odyssey about the creation of AI consciousness and the future of sin.
The original film was in a futuristic theme park where a malfunction caused all of the robots to go nuts and start wreaking havoc on all of the park goers. Because of this HBO decided that they wanted to run with this and ordered Westworld to be created last November. They must really want this to go well as they seem to be in a bit of rush to create this new series. It is due to be released either later this year or in 2016.
Not only does Ms. Wood play one of the characters, you have some big names in there too such as James Marsden, Anthony Hopkins, Thandie Newton. There are even some of the lower name actors as well like Jeffrey Wright, Rodrigo Santoro, Ingrid Bolso Berdal, Simon Quarterman, Angela Sarafyan, Shannon Woodward, Ed Harris, and Miranda Otto. These are some great actors that are going to be putting on one of the greatest HBO series since True Blood.
The Project comes from J.J. Abram’s Bad Robot Productions and the director, executive producer, and writer Jonathan Nolan as well as Lisa Nolan, who is the writer and executive producer as well, will be giving you plenty to go on when you begin this show. J.J. Abrams, Bryan Burk and Jerry Weintraub will also be executive producing while Susie Ekins is co-producing and Athena Wickham is producing.
These are some pretty big executive names to be dropping for a brand new show. Although, the great news is that it is going to be awesome. The teaser is amazing, the graphics are great and even though it is only 30 seconds long, it is enough to want to get hooked to a new show in 2016.
